The Power of Gratitude
“Assalamu Alaikum and a very warm Good Morning everyone.
Before I introduce myself, I want to share a beautiful verse from the Holy Quran, Surah Ibrahim, Verse 7: ‘If you are grateful, I will surely increase you in favor.’ (Agar tum shukr ada karoge… to main tumhe aur zyada dunga.)
With this beautiful thought in mind… Respected Principal [Sir/Ma’am], worthy teachers, and my dear friends.
I am Zikra Fatima from Class 7th D. And today, I want to take a few moments to talk about a superpower we all have, but often forget to use – ‘The Power of Gratitude’.”
Have you ever noticed that when we are happy, we feel grateful? But actually, it works the other way around: When we are grateful, we become happy.
Today, I stand before you to speak on a simple yet powerful topic – ‘The Value of Gratitude’.
[Body Paragraph 1: What is Gratitude?] Gratitude is not just saying “Thank You” when someone passes you a pen or opens a door. It is much more than that. Gratitude is a mindset. It is a way of looking at the world. It is the ability to see the sunlight even on a cloudy day.
[Body Paragraph 2: The Reality Check] Friends, we often complain about small things. We complain about waking up early for school, we complain about the food in our tiffin, or about too much homework. But think for a second—there are millions of children in this world who do not have a school to go to, who do not have food on their plates, and who do not have a roof over their heads.
We take our parents, our teachers, and our comforts for granted. We forget that the shoes we wear and the books we read are gifts that many can only dream of.
[Body Paragraph 3: How it helps us?] Science tells us that gratitude acts like a magnet for miracles.
- It reduces stress.
- It improves our relationships.
- Most importantly, it destroys arrogance (Ghamand) and makes us humble.
When you focus on what you don’t have, you will never have enough. But when you focus on what you have, you will always end up having more.
[Conclusion & Call to Action] So, how can we practice this? It’s simple. Let’s make a promise today. Every night before sleeping, let’s think of three good things that happened during the day. It could be a tasty lunch, a good joke with a friend, or a helping hand from a teacher.
Let us stop complaining about what is missing, and start appreciating what is present.
[Closing] Remember, “It is not happiness that brings us gratitude; it is gratitude that brings us happiness.”
Thank you and have a wonderful, grateful day ahead!
“So friends, let’s make a promise today. Instead of counting our problems, let us count our blessings.
I would like to end with a powerful quote by Melody Beattie: ‘Gratitude turns what we have into enough.’ (Shukr karne se… jo hamare paas hai, wo kaafi ho jata hai.)
So, keep smiling and keep saying Alhamdulillah for everything.
JazakAllah Khair & Thank you!“
